La Vie Caffe is a cozy spot along the coast in Cape Town with several tables outdoors, and couches with low tables. The food was average and the service is very casual. They encourage you to hang around as long as you like, but it was also hard to get the waiters attention. They also had no desserts, although their menu said they would have a selection of cakes.

After we placed our order and got our food, we did not see our waiter. It proved tricky to get a dessert menu (although we then found out there was no dessert) and finally our bill.

The restaurant was not very busy on a Thursday evening in the winter - there were many open tables.

Margherita Pizza
Margherita topped with fresh tomato and rocket
The margherita pizza was a typical plain pizza. It had a nice thin crust, but it was a little too salty.
Vegetable Ciabatta
Baby spinach, feta, olives, and grilled mushrooms topped with tsatsiki sauce
The ciabatta bread was shaped more like a baguette. It was a white bread with a thick crust that they cut it in half and stuffed with grilled vegetables, lettuce, olives and tzatziki sauce. It was too difficult to eat with the top, as the sauce was messy. Instead, we took off the top and ate it with a knife and fork. The olives and sauce made it a bit too salty.
