This is a review for the Botanical Gardens on Kitchener's Island in Egypt. The whole island is beautifully landscaped and contains many tropical trees, plants, and flowering bushes. The landscaping is simply beautiful, and is unlike most other places in Egypt.

As the name implies, Kitchener's Island is an island. You must arrange transport to and from the island. For a fee, there are many feluccas available to help tourists visit the island.

After arriving on the island and purchasing tickets, you are presented with two beautiful sights - the lush green of the botanical gardens to your left, and the Sahara Desert just a short distance across the Nile. The contrast of the green vegetation on the island the barren sand of the Sahara is really something that's very neat to see.

The island is composed of a grid of paths. You can walk around the paths, seeing all the different parts of the island. Some of the trees have a little sign telling you what type of tree it is, but otherwise, there are no displays that tell you things to look for.

Estimated Visiting Time

The botanical gardens are fairly large. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from one end of the island to another. For a leisurely visit, 60-90 minutes is probably sufficient.

Cost

We're not sure what the exact cost is to visit the botanical gardens on Kitchener's Island, but like most attractions in Egypt, it's probably fairly cheap.

At the time of visiting, cameras and video cameras are permitted for no extra fee.
