This restaurant in the heart of little India in Jackson Heights seemed like a popular place to go - people were coming in and out of here all the time. We were quite confused about the procedure. We first went up to order from the food display. The person behind the counter asked "to stay or to go?" We said we wanted to stay, and he directed us to go upstairs. Upstairs was a large dining area with some unusual furniture that looked like it belonged in my grandmother's living room. We were seated and provided with a menu (the prices were slightly more expensive than the downstairs menu board which I presume was for takeout only). Now it was more difficult to identify the food we had seen in the display cases on the menu, so we made some attempts and our waiter also helped. The food was all pretty good, and still very good value, but I've had better Indian/Pakistani food. It's possible we ordered the wrong items. I've heard their kabab's were great, but apparently we got the wrong one.

The food is served family style, so it's best if you can share. One to two items per person is a good amount.

Reservations

Although the restaurant seemed busy downstairs, there were lots of empty tables upstairs.

Items Ordered

Chicken Kabab and Naan Bread

Two pieces
Cost:$3.99 for the kababas, $1 for each Naan

The chicken kabab was served without the stick. The chicken seemed like ground chicken. It wasn't very spicy and was fairly mild tasting.

The naan bread was pretty typical naan

Mixed Vegetables, Channa, Chicken Tikka Masala

Cost:$7.99 for the chicken, $4.99 for the vegetarian dishes

The mixed vegetables was a mish-mash of several vegetables. It had a bit of a tomato base to it. It wasn't very spicy, except for a few pieces of fresh ginger on top.

The channa (chickpeas) was very different from the channa masala I'm use to getting. It was not spicy at all, and it had a very different flavor that was actually pretty good.

The chicken tikka masala was kind of gross. The sauce had puddles of oil floating on top.
