Julija is an Italian restaurant in the touristy area of Ljubljana (near Preseren Square). I was attracted to this place because I heard a server speaking English, and saw that their menu also had items listed in English. Overall, I was quite impressed with the quality of the food here. Although the prices were higher than in the non-touristy area, everything was still quite reasonably priced.
Like most of the restaurants around here, just take a seat, and someone will bring over a menu shortly after.
Dress
Casual dress is fine.
Cost
The restaurants in the touristy area of Ljubljana are a bit more expensive than in the more rural areas, but it's still cheap when compared to other major cities in Europe. Expect to pay €6-€10 for a dinner entree.
Items Ordered
Meat Lasagna
This lasagna was very good. It was only a little bit too salty (usually I find Italian food way too salty). The sauce was mild tasting, with just the right combination of spice and sweetness. The lasagna had a good ratio of meat/sauce/cheese. The cheese on top was a little bit crispy from being in the oven, and was delicious.
The lasagna was served very very hot - it must have come right from the oven.
Water
Like most places, the water here is overpriced. The bottle was only 330ml, and tasted like water.
Tiramisu
I was considering not getting this Tiramisu, since the lasagna was quite filling. In the end, I'm glad I did. It was quite large (it could have been shared by two people), and was very reasonably priced. It was creamy with a nice moist coffee flavor in the cake. The tiramisu also had a small taste of alcohol.
