Island Lava Java

Island Lava Java is a cafe/restaurant in Kona, Hawaii. It's located near the water, and its outdoor seating area has an ocean view. For breakfast, visitors can look at the menu inside, place their order at the front desk, and pay for it there. Drinks are picked up at the counter to the side. For food items, visitors are given a card (such as the 4 of diamonds), which they display on their table. The food is then brought out to the table when it is ready.

Prices are fairly reasonable for Hawaii. Most breakfast items are in the $10-$13 range.

These milkshakes are really amazing. I think we visited Island Lava Java multiple times today, just so we could get more of these. It's everything that a coffee milkshake should be - creamy and delicious.

In this picture, you can also see the card that our table was given so the waiter would know where to bring our food.

The cup of fruit that came with the Volcano was mostly just pineapple and grapes. It did have a bit of papaya, one slice of kiwi, and two strawberry slices on top.

The potatoes were quite good. They were well spiced and flavorful.

There was only one piece of toast with the Volcano, but it was pretty big. The bacon was typical bacon.

The eggs we received were done perfectly. They were ordered once over easy. Three other people in our group also ordered eggs once over easy, and one of them had their eggs quite undercooked.

The side order of potatoes was quite large. They were the same potatoes that were served with the Volcano Breakfast, except there were more of them.

Fruit Smoothies

These smoothies were really quite poor and disappointing, especially when compared with the Lava Java Shake. The strawberry was especially poor - it was very icy, and not "smooth" at all (although it did look like they used a good number of strawberries).

The strawberry mango was a bit better. It was smooth, and had a nice tropical fruity flavor.
