Visited:Dinner
Seating:Outdoor Terrace

Inside Park is a restaurant located at the corner of 50th street and Park Avenue in Manhattan. The indoor dining room is a bit fancier, but the outdoor terrace is in a spectacular location, surrounded by tall buildings.

Overall, we were slightly disappointed with Inside Park at St. Bart's. The location is fantastic, but we didn't feel the food was as good as it could have been. It was all presented very nicely, but the entree was too sweet for my liking. The dinner menu had a number of unusual items.

Dress

The outdoor terrace is fairly casual (jeans are fine), although a number of people were also wearing suits. The indoor dining room is probably fancier.

Cost

Most entrees were around $30.

Reservations

Reservations are recommended. I was able to call the same day to get 7:30pm reservations on the terrace (on a Tuesday), but other days are likely busier.

Items Ordered

Bread

Cost:Free

Our table was presented with a small basket of bread. I thought it was weird that there were 5 slices for a table of 3 people. The bread itself had a very thick crust, and was fairly plain.

Simple Plates - Shrimp

Popcorn, Popcorn (Shrimp)
Cost:$7, or 3 simple plates for $18

We ordered the popcorn shrimp as part of the "3 simple plates for $18". It is exactly what it sounds like - some tiny shrimp, served cold, and a bit of popcorn. The shrimp were infused with a very fresh lemony flavor, and were quite good. The popcorn had a somewhat spicy flavor, and was also quite good.

Simple Plates - Hunter Sausage; Fried Green Tomatoes

Hunter Sausage, Root Pickles; Fried Green Tomatoes, Crab Renoulade
Cost:$7 for the hunter sausage and $6 for the root pickles, or 3 simple plates for $18

The two other simple plates we ordered (as part of the 3 for $18 special) are pictured here. The sausage was a plain dried sausage. It was served with a pickled root of some sort.

The fried green tomato was pretty good, as most fried things are. The crab renoulade was a strange accompaniment - it didn't go very well with the tomatoes.

Goat Cheese Salad

Local goat cheese salad, grilled apricots, basil seed
Cost:$12

The salad was a mix of thick-leafed greens. It had a very sweet dressing, with a few almonds. The salad looked very pretty with a number of small seeds on the plate.

The goat cheese was very creamy - it had the consistency of a brie cheese. The apricots tasted a bit strange.

Pork Chop

Heritage Breed Pork Chop, Stone Fruit Panzanella, Braised Radicchio
Cost:$28

The pork chop itself was a fairly tasty pork chop. It was mostly bone, but there was a nice piece of meat on the inside. The fruit panzanella was incredibly sweet - it was sweet to the point of unpleasantness. The bread pieces were so saturated with sweetness that I couldn't eat them (and I like sweet things).

Chocolate Cake

Dark chocolate cream, whipped cream, fresh apricot
Cost:$10

The dark chocolate cake looked beautiful, and the chocolate cream and whipped cream were delicious, but the cake itself was on the dry side. The cream helped hide that, and this was a fairly tasty desert, but it would have been better if the cake was more moist.
