Holey Cream is a specialty donut shop in NYC that takes a donut, cuts it in half, fills it with ice cream, and tops it with a variety of toppings. It's a brilliant idea. The desserts are fairly tasty and a huge novelty.

Their system is a bit confusing, especially when there are other people in the store. To order, we just sort of went up to a guy and ordered a donut sandwich. He wasn't very helpful in explaining how the process worked. We had to ask if they had a mint ice cream (which they did, hidden in the back). He asked us what sauce we wanted on top, but didn't explain how the toppings worked. We later discovered that it's flat-rate pricing and we could have gotten multiple toppings (and a second flavor of ice cream) for the same cost.

Holey Cream only offers one kind of donut (at least when we visited), but there are a number of different types of ice cream you can get inside of it. They also offer a couple sauces to put on top, and a number of different dry toppings, such as nuts, coconut, sprinkles, etc.

The portion size was quite large. It can easily be shared between two, and possibly three depending on how hungry you are. The ice cream made the donut a bit hard, and it was a bit tricky and messy to eat, but it was still pretty tasty.
