Heartland Brewery is located in Times Square in New York City. The food is typical American - it is nothing special but sure to please everyone in a large group.
Dress
Casual
Cost
Most entrees were around $20-$25.
Service
When we visited they seemed to be having a crisis. The beer taps were frozen and there was no beer. Not only was there no beer, this seemed to be a reason to completely ignore us for about 30 minutes after we were seated. We had to ask several times before someone brought us water and bread, and we were all hungry. The only consolation we got was one free beer when the taps were flowing again.
Reservations
The restaurant is very large and was not very busy when we visited on a Sunday evening. It was not necessary to make reservations, even for a large group.
Items Ordered
Fresh Baby Spinach Salad
goat cheese, Granny Smith apples, balsamic dressing and pine nutsThis was a good salad. I liked the dressing, but there was a bit too much. The salad was mostly spinach, but there were some big chunks of goat cheese.
Grilled Pork Tenderloin
homemade BBQ sauce, candied sweet potatoesThis was a big dish. The pork tenderloin was enough to feed 3 people. The meat was moist and tender. The BBQ sauce didn't taste like anything special. The sweet potatoes were extra sweet, but a bit stringy.
Baked Asparagus
Again, this was a big enough side dish to share. The asparagus was served with a layer of a mild cheese baked on top.
Heartland Buffalo Burger
free-range South Dakota bison, fresh cut Idaho fries, homemade BBQ sauceThis was a pretty good thick burger. The fries were pretty typical.
