The Hawaii & Waikiki Gun Club is a store and public shooting range located in Waikiki, near the popular tourist hotels. As someone who had never shot a gun before, I thought it would be fun to go here and try it out. I was not disappointed! The staff at the shooting range were laid back and pleasant. No appointments are necessary here - just go in, pay for what you want to do, and then you get to go shoot!

I thought this was a fun thing to do in the area. After paying and signing a waiver, we had a short lesson on how to shoot the guns we would be shooting. With our $18 package, we had a total of 45 shots (22 caliber) on three different guns - a rifle, a revolver, and a semi-automatic.

Dress

The gun club does not have a dress code. We went wearing flip flops, shorts, and t-shirts.

A number of different shooting packages are available. Although the base prices are quite high (around $36 for the cheapest package), there are many coupons available. People on the street are often handing out coupons in the evening for 25%-30% off. If you look in travel magazines, we found a coupon that gave us 50% off, so we only paid $18 each for the cheapest package.

There was a "tip box" inside the shooting range. The person supervising us was friendly and helpful, so we put a $5 tip in the box.

Expect to spent approximately 30 minutes inside. Not all of this time is shooting - everyone is laid back, so it takes a bit of time to pay, sign a waiver, and get a short lesson on how to shoot a gun. Expect to spend 10-15 minutes actually shooting. If you purchase one of the more expensive packages, you will have more guns to shoot, and will likely take a bit longer.
