Harbour Sixty Steakhouse is a fine dining steakhouse located in downtown Toronto at the corner of Harbour Street and Bay. It is one of the more expensive steakhouses around, but the decor is quite nice, and the steaks are delicious.
The best part about Harbour Sixty (besides the food) is probably the chairs - they are incredibly comfortable!
Dress
Most men were wearing suits, although there was one patron wearing jeans and a sweat shirt.
Cost
Fairly expensive - most steaks are priced around $50, with most sides ranging from $10 - $15. Wines range from $60 - $7000+.
The high prices fooled me when looking at the dessert menu. One of dessert beverages was listed as "Fonseca, vintage 1750". I thought "Wow, that is really aged!" before realizing 1750 was the price.
Service
The service was pretty good. Our waiter seemed friendly, and was quite helpful picking out a decent priced wine "that you don't need to take out a second mortgage for".
Reservations
Reservations are highly recommended. The restaurant may not accept walk-ins.
Items Ordered
Bread and olives
Our bread basket contained two different types of bread - one raisin nut bread, and another plain white bread. The white bread was fairly average, with the raisin nut bread being pretty good.
The olives were decent, unpitted olives. The olive plate also came with some feta cheese.
The Harbour Sixty
Cookstown greens, garden vegetables, herb citrus vinaigretteThe Harbour Sixty Salad was a typical lettuce salad. I was surprised how large it was. It had a somewhat acidic dressing that was quite flavorful.
Buffalo Mozzarella
Vine ripened tomatoes, Speck, aged Balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oilBuffalo mozzarella salads are usually great, and this one was no exception. It was a ball of buffalo mozzarella, sliced and stacked with slices of tomato. The end result was a bit of a cheese and tomato lasagna. The speck didn't hurt the dish, but I didn't think it was necessary.
Filet Mignon (10 oz)
In my opinion, filet mignon is the only type of steak worth ordering. This one was exceptionally moist with a slightly salty and well-seasoned exterior. I would not hesitate to order this steak again.
The steaks were all served by themselves, so be sure to also order some side dishes.
Roasted Butternut Squash
Butter, brown sugar, thymeI love butternut squash, and this one was well prepared. It was buttery and slightly sweet. It was just a touch on the hard side and could have used a tiny bit more cooking, but was otherwise perfect.
Lobster Mashed Potatoes
Lobster, Brie, chivesThis was my first time having lobster mashed potatoes. There isn't anything complicated about them - they are just mashed potatoes with pieces of lobster mixed in. This lobster was a bit bland, but I usually find lobster bland, so if you love lobster, you'll probably love these potatoes. The mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful.
Sugar Snap Peas
The peas were quite buttery and tasty. They were cooked just enough so that they had a crispy freshness.
Coconut Cream Pie
Coconut, white chocolate, fresh whipped creamTwo members of our group split the coconut cream pie, and they served it on two separate plates. The piece shown here is just one half of the order.
The coconut cream pie had a lot of whipped cream, but still had a delicious coconut flavor.
