Gramercy Tavern is an upscale restaurant west of gramercy park in Manhattan, NYC. Their main dining room is only open for dinner on the weekends, but their lunchtime tavern menu offers some good choices at reasonable prices.

Dress

Smart casual seemed appropriate for lunch. There were one or two people wearing shorts (it was a really hot day), but they were in the minority.

Cost

Most lunch items were between $18-$25.

Reservations

The restaurant had a lot of room around 12:30p on a Sunday, but filled up shortly after.

Items Ordered

Radish, Beet and Quinoa Salad

Cost:$12

This was a pretty good fresh-tasting salad. There were a few slices of shaved raddish on top and a couple different types of beets hiding under the lettuce. Although it looks like the salad is mostly lettuce, there were really only a few leaves on top of the radishes and beets. The salad was served with a citrus balsamic dressing.

Mushroom Lasagna

Cost:$18

The Mushroom Lasagna was very rich and buttery. It had a strong mushroom flavor. The piece of lasagna didn't look very large, but it was very heavy. There was no tomato sauce - just a mushroom sauce that helped give it such a strong tasty mushroom flavor.

Smoked Kielbasa, Grilled Summer Greens, Spaetzle and Beets

Cost:$18

This kielbasa was unlike one I have ever had before. It was incredibly heavy. The texture of the kielbasa was strange - sort of like what I imagine the texture of spam would be like. It was a bit gelatinous. In spite of that, it tasted good and buttery. The spaetzle was a great accompaniment, but was also very rich. It looked like the kielbasa was served with a small portion of horseradish, but I think they just may have been beets - either that or it was a very mild horseradish.

Strawberry Tart, Mint Ice Cream

Cost:$12

The strawberry tart was excellent. The strawberries were very small (like many of the local ones are) and had a delicious strawberry flavor. I think the tart was topped with a bit of whipped cream, and there was a ball of mint ice cream on the side. The mint ice cream had a very strong fresh mint flavor and went remarkably well with the strawberry tart.
