The Gazebo Restaurant was a recommended place to eat on Maui, but unfortunately, we were disappointed with our experienced there. It's a typical "greasy spoon" type restaurant, offering traditional breakfast foods.

We had some difficulty finding this restaurant. It's actually located inside a condo complex (the Napili Shores Outrigger). To find it, go into the condo complex, park, and then walk towards the water. The Gazebo Restaurant is right next to the pool. The restaurant is located in a gazebo, hence the fitting name. Parking is free at the condo complex.

The view at the restaurant is quite nice. The gazebo is located right on the ocean, and it does provide an excellent view.

Since the restaurant is fairly small (only about 12 tables), there is almost always a 20-40 minute wait for breakfast. There were also a lot of birds in the restaurant. One of them tried to get food from our table, and one other person got "pooed on"!

Dress

The restaurant is very casual.

Cost

Most breakfast items are around $7-$9, with omelettes around $10.25.

Items Ordered

POG Juice

A blend of passion, orange, guava
Cost:$2.75

The menu describes this as a blend of passion, orange, and guava juices. It doesn't mention that it's mostly a blend of sugar and water. The juice is the same POG "fruit drink" that you can buy in most local grocery stores.

Banana Pancakes (short stack)

Cost:$6, or $7 for the full stack.

These pancakes didn't have enough banana. They tasted like they were probably made from a mix, with maybe a bit of banana. The whipped topping (most likely an edible oil product) was ok, but you probably want to ask for these pancakes without it. The pancakes were served with maple flavored syrup, and coconut syrup. I thought the coconut syrup was weird, but other members of our group enjoyed it.

Bacon & Eggs

Served with country potatoes or rice, and toast
Cost:$8.95

I ordered these eggs once over easy. One egg was definitely undercooked (with the white part quite runny), and the other egg was broken. That was disappointing. The sourdough toast tasted just like white bread - it wasn't very sour. Other bread options were white or rye. The bacon and potatoes were pretty good.
