Galei Gil

The Galei Gil fish restaurant is located in the city of Tiberias, Israel, right on the Sea of Galilee. It's a very nice location, right on the water. The surrounding area is nice - it's a touristy area, and there's a short promenade along the water.

The restaurant offered fresh fish, and overall, it was quite good.

Cost

This restaurant may have been a little bit more expensive than average, but the quality was also a bit better than average. I felt like I received good value here.

Service

Our waiter was quite friendly and conversational. When he arrived, he brought some fish over to our table (that people from another table had ordered) so we could see what it looked like.

Dress

Very casual - especially if you're eating outside. (It's often quite hot).

Hummus, Tahini, Turkish Salad, Eggplant, Vegetable

In many other restaurants that we went to, an impressive salad selection was often offered for free. Here, we had to pay 39 NIS for it. I didn't think it was any better than other salad selections - we got some pitas, hummus, and other "salad" items like beats and tahini. There was also a cut vegetable salad, although it didn't make it into the picture.

Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

Freshly squeezed orange juice is much better than its bottled counterpart. The orange juice from the Galei Gil restaurant was no exception - it was delicious.

Grilled Sea Bream

Baked on a charcoal grill, served with french fries, garlic sauce, salad, & lemon

This fish was excellent. It didn't have a strong fish flavor at all! The spice toppings were very good. Unfortunately, the bones weren't removed, and the head was attached, so eating the fish was a little bit of a challenge (but it was worth the effort). The three large potato "fries" were also pretty good; they tasted like potato, but more would have been appreciated.
