Employees Only is a very small restaurant in the West Village. There are only about 10 tables inside, all really close together. The dining room is located at the back of the restaurant behind the bar and entrance way. The dining area has a large skylight. They restaurant has a vintage feel, and includes a wood-burning fireplace.

We had a hard time finding the restaurant. The only signage outside showed the restaurant's logo, and we didn't realize at first that the sideways EO was the logo of the restaurant.

Dress

Casual - jeans and a nice shirt are fine.

Cost

Entrees were $25-$35.

Reservations

Because the restaurant is so small, reservation are recommended. We were able to call ahead by 45 minutes and get an early table for dinner.

Items Ordered

Charcuterie

Smoked and cured Eastern European meats, chicken liver pate, and homemade Focaccia.
Cost:$21

This was a large appetizer that we easily shared with 3 people. There was quite the selection to choose from. We enjoyed making small sandwiches using the Focaccia bread, cheese, pepper spread, fennel and various meats.

Young Organic Chicken

Roasted Brussel sprouts and potatoes, warm vinaigrette.
Cost:$24

The chicken was moist. The sauce was delicious, as were the potatoes. The sauce also had several whole pieces of roasted garlic.

Pan Seared Salmon

Artichoke, fingerlings, and Mache salad.
Cost:$24

I requested my Salmon well done, and it was prepared to my liking. There was a strange puree underneath the Salmon which had a somewhat acidic flavor. I didn't think it went well with the fish.

Under the pile of greens, were a couple potatoes and artichoke slices. They were both covered in a mayonnaise and what I think is a horseradish sauce. I thought the sauce was out of place, and didn't really enjoy it.

Butterscotch & Mascarpone Cheesecake

Butterscotch & Mascarpone Cheesecake, sea salt & nut brittle.
Cost:$8

The cheesecake was delicious - it was so creamy. The butterscotch sauce was also excellent. I found the salt to be quite strange on the cheesecake. It did add an interesting flavor, but I would have preferred the cheesecake without the saltiness.
