Delmonico's Steakhouse is a restaurant by Emeril located in the Venetian. It's a "casual upscale" restaurant - anywhere but Vegas, it would be considered a fancy restaurant.

Before being seated, there is a lounge area located off to the side (pictured here) that offers live music, depending on the time of day. If your complete group has not yet arrived, you are invited to sit in the lounge and wait. Drinks are available for purchase in the lounge.

The service in Delmonico is quite good - each table has a team of waiters that are responsible for looking after you. If you get up during the meal, your napkin will either be replaced or re-folded while you are gone.

This visit only warrants an 8/10, but that is mainly due to the atmosphere (we were in a larger seating area this time, and it was quite noisy), and the quality of the steak we ordered. (The previous time, I ordered the filet mignon for $48, and it was probably the best steak I have ever had). The previous visit would have received a 10/10.

It is also worth noting that other members of the group ordered the "petite" versions of the daily entree special, and it was anything but petite. Along with an appetizer, it could be shared between two.

Cost

Delmonico is not a cheap restaurant, but it's not the most expensive by Vegas standards, either. Expect to pay approximately $75/person. The majority of wines are over $100/bottle, with some ranging into the $1000+ range.

Dress

This is advertised as a "business casual" restaurant. A suit is not required (although you won't feel out of place in one). You will at least want to wear nice pants and a button shirt. Jeans do qualify as nice pants, but you would probably feel more comfortable in nicer pants.

Reservations

Reservations are strongly recommended.

Items Ordered

Appetizers

Dinner Roll
Cost:Free

Each member of the group was provided one of these dinner rolls after being seated. It was a simple white bread served with butter (or oil by request), but was enjoyable nonetheless.

Delmonico Baby Greens and Fried Homemade Mozzarella
Tomatoes, Red Onions, and Balsamic Vinaigrette
Cost:$13

This salad had a lot of spinach and other greens, and a vinaigrette dressing. The onions appeared to be fried, so they didn't have a strong onion flavor. The fried mozzarella was just what you'd expect - it was served hot, so the mozzarella was melted and delicious.

Emeril's New Orleans Barbecue Shrimp
Served with a petite rosemary biscuit
Cost:$14

These shrimp were excellent. They were served in a spicy barbecue sauce that fit really well with the shrimp. The rosemary biscuit was really quite tiny (just one bite!), with a strong taste of rosemary.

Entrees

Bone In Rib Steak
Cost:$52

The steak pictured here is only 1/2 the actual steak - this is an 18-ounce behemoth of a steak, suitable for sharing. It was ordered medium, and cooked perfectly.

I was quite disappointed with the quality of the steak. This particular cut was tough and fatty, without as much flavor as I was hoping for. It was a pretty good steak, but it wasn't outstanding. My expectations were quite high, as previously I had ordered the fillet mignon - it was exceptional. I was going to order it again, until one of the waiters recommended this steak.

This steak was also quite large. The fillet was only a 9-ounce steak, so this was twice the size. The steak was served a-la-carte, so side dishes were also ordered (see below).

Side Dishes - Country Smashed Potatoes & Vegetable Of The Day (Broccoli)
Cost:$16 ($8 each)

The potatoes were excellent. They had a hint of garlic and cream, and were soft and fluffy. The broccoli was more crunchy than I had expected, although was still fairly good.

Desserts

Dessert Special - Sour Cream Fudge Cake
Sour cream fudge cake with chocolate icing, homemade toffee, fudge sauce, fresh whipped cream
Cost:$9

This was a generous slice of chocolate cake with whipped cream on the side. It really didn't taste any better than similar types of cake available at other restaurants, but it was quite good.
