Donna Pizzeria is an Italian restaurant located in Prague. There are three locations scattered around the city, mostly in touristy areas. We thought it would be a good place to get some pizza, but we were disappointed in the quality.
This location had seating upstairs (on the main level), and there were also stairs going down - they may have had additional seating, or a bar, downstairs. Although the restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived, a few other people arrived shortly afterwards, and soon the whole room was full of smoke.
The menus had both Czech and English, so we could tell what we were ordering.
Cost
The pizza here wasn't all that cheap - the cheapest pizza was 105 Kc. We discovered later that under bridges and in some subway stations, there are pizza stores that offer pizza for less than half the price of the Donna Pizzeria.
Dress
Very causal - the place has a bar atmosphere.
Service
Our waiter didn't speak very much English, but we managed to order without any problems. As with most restaurants in Prague, it was a "seat yourself" restaurant. We were noticed shortly after sitting down, and were provided with menus.
Items Ordered
Kasovice Musketyr Beer (0.3L)
Beer was cheaper than water here (like in most restaurants), so we thought we would give it a try. Unfortunately, this beer wasn't very good. There is another beer that's quite popular in the area (Pilsner Urquell) - that one may have been a better beer to try. I thought that the Kasovice Musketyr had a strange aftertaste.
Bread
We were provided with these four small pieces of bread after placing our order. The bread was served with a small dish of herb butter - that was a nice change from the plain bread offered elsewhere. The bread itself was fairly heavy, and quite dry.
Margherita Pizza
tomato sauce, cheese, tomatoes, fresh basilicumThe Margherita Pizza had very few basil leaves or tomatoes on it - it was mostly just a plain cheese pizza. Unfortunately, the cheese wasn't very good (and there was lots of it).
Prima Vera Pasta
zucchini, carrot, green peas, broccoli, asparagus, paprika, cream, parmesanThe pasta was made with spinach linguine. That was nice! The pasta actually had quite a few vegetables in it, and they were all nicely cooked. The cream sauce was thick and heavy, although it didn't have much flavor. This was the best dish that we ordered.
