Diwan-E-Khaas is an Indian restaurant located in downtown NYC. They had about six different meat dishes and another six or seven veggie dishes displayed in hot metal bins on their counter. For lunch, visitors chose a combo of two or three items that came with rice and naan bread. The food was OK - it was fairly flavorful, pretty cheap quality, and I didn't think it was as good as the pakistani tea house (a similar sort of restaurant a couple blocks north).

Get in line at the counter, pick out the items you want, then pay for them. Most people get their items to go, although there are a couple tables.

Chicken and 2 vegetable combo

I chose the spicy chicken (chicken vindaloo) along with chickpeas and mixed vegetables. The chicken was a really poor quality of meat and was pretty fatty, but the sauce was pretty good. It was fairly flavorful without being uncomfortably spicy. The chickpeas and mixed vegetables tasted fairly similar - they tasted quite sweet and it felt like there was a lot of cinnamon in them.
