Delhi Heights is an Indian restaurant located in the borough of Queens in New York City. Several subway lines stop right in the area - 7, E, F, R, V.

The menu is quite extensive and also includes some Chinese noodle dishes. They offer good quality food, at fairly low prices for New York. Most of the dishes were medium spicy.

The restaurant was small, but had a nice interior decor. They also had a bar, and later in the evening there was some live music.

Dress

Casual - shorts and a t-shirt are fine.

Cost

Most entrees were $12-$13 and appetizers and side dishes were less than $5.

Service

The waiters were very attentive. Our water glasses were always kept full.

Reservations

We arrived around 6:30pm on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was pretty empty at the time, and we didn't have to wait for a table.

Items Ordered

Indian Crackers

Cost:Free

Instead of the usual bread and butter, we were brought a basket of Indian spiced crackers and two sauces. One of the sauces was a sweet plum sauce. The other one looked spicy, so I didn't try it.

Punjabi Samosas

Peas and potato pastry
Cost:$4.25

The samosas were delicious, but spicy. The deep fried pastry was typical of a good samosa. The filling was mashed potatoes and peas. Although they didn't come with any sauce, they went well with the plum sauce we were given when we sat down.

Aloo Ki Tikki

Spiced potato patties
Cost:$4.95

This appetizer was not bad. They were fried, so they were tasty, but they only tasted like spice. The patties were mostly just mashed potatoes.

Aloo Gobi

Potatoes cauliflower tossed with ginger and freshly ground spices
Cost:$11.95

This dish was medium spicy, but full of flavor. The potatoes and cauliflower went really well together in their spice sauce. It was served in a separate bowl, so it could be shared easily.

The rice in the picture actually came with the chicken curry dish below.

Handi Chicken

Tender boneless chicken cubes in a spicy curry with onions, bell pepper and potatoes
Cost:$12.95

This dish was quite spicy, but also very good. It came in it's own bowl, with a separate bowl of rice - making it easy to share. There wasn't very much vegetable in the dish - it was mostly chicken in a curry sauce. The curry was pretty good. The chicken was very tender dark meat.
