Common Ground is a Bar in the East Village in Manhattan. It is a cozy bar, with lots of couch seating. One of the things that makes this bar unique is their game collection. They have several games that you can play with your friends while you're there, like Connect 4 or Jenga. They also host some special events. Every Wednesday evening they have a trivia night. Your group can participate (as a team with as many people as you like) in the trivia competition. This involves answering questions that are announced. When we visited, the trivia game consisted of six rounds of 10 related questions each. Approximately 15 teams participated in the trivia contest. There are prizes for the winning teams at the end of the night for the top three teams ($50 gift certificate for the first place team, $25 for second). It was a neat thing to play at a bar. It got some excitement and interaction between groups. On Sunday evenings, Common Ground also hosts an open-mic night.

Food

The menu consists of appetizers, salads and Paninis. During the week, from 4pm-8pm the appetizers are buy one get one free. Most items are $7-$10. The food sounded interesting and tasted ok. In addition to beers, they also have several special cocktails and mixed drinks. I tried the Espresso Martini, and it was excellent. Cocktails were around $10 and beers were around $5 depending on which you ordered.
