Chola Eclectic Indian Cuisine

Chola is an Indian restaurant in East midtown in an area with many Indian restaurants. I did not find this to be one of the best ones in the area, although it was still pretty decent. The food was good, nothing was overly spicy, and most items were a bit sweet.
Dress
Casual
Cost
Most entrees are around $15
Service
There was nothing special about the service.
Reservations
They do take reservations, but it was not necessary on a weekend. I imagine this place might be busier during the work week.
Items Ordered
Bhajia
Crispy okra, red onions, lime and chaat masalaThe bhajia is small fried vegetable patties in a light crispy batter. There were six pieces, and they had slightly different vegetables in them including potatoes, cauliflower and carrots.
Baigan Bharta and Aloo Gobi
Baigan Bharta: Smoked pureed eggplant, ginger, freshly ground spices Aloo Gobi: Potatoes, cauliflower, cumin, onions, tomatoesThe pureed eggplant (on the left) had a creamy texture. It was full of flavor, and was a bit sweet. The aloo gobi (right) was pretty typical. In the center we were brought a dish of cooked vegetables and crispy flakes.
Langarwali Dal and Chicken Kali Mirch
Langarwali Dal: Five lentils, dry red chilies, fresh coriander Chicken Kali Mirch: Peppercorns, yogurt, cream, garam masalaThe dal was pretty good, but I didn't really notice the different types of lentils. The dal was also a bit sweet. The chicken was creamy and delicious but it was not spicy although it was listed with a pepper next to it on the menu.
