Cheeseburger In Paradise is a restaurant located on Front Street (a very touristy area) in Lahaina, Maui. I don't think it has any relation to the other "Cheeseburger In Paradise" restaurants located around the United States.

The restaurant has a great location - right on the water along Front Street. It's a two story restaurant, and when we were there, there was live music being performed on the second floor.

Although this looked like a great family friendly American restaurant, and the food was quite good, we didn't have the best experience there. I got the impression that they were quite unorganized. The burger we ordered was most certainly undercooked, even though we ordered it well done. The other four people in our group had their burgers properly cooked. After our burger came back, it was cooked more, but they had changed the bun. We had requested a whole wheat bun, which is what we got originally, but the burger returned on a white bun.

We weren't the only people having a bad experience. The restaurant was a bit busy, and we overheard some drama unfolding at the table across from us. After a group of two had already been seated with an ocean view, someone came over and told them they shouldn't have been seated there, and they would have to move. I couldn't believe that the restaurant was making such a big deal about their mistake. It was not handled very well.

The restaurant did look pretty good, so it's possible these are just isolated incidents, and the staff was having a bad day. In spite of these mistakes, I would be willing to try the restaurant again.

Cost

Some items appeared to be quite overpriced ($12 for a salad?). The burgers at $9-$10 weren't all that cheap when you consider that fries are an additional $4.75, but they weren't ridiculously expensive, either.

A 15% tip was automatically charged for our group. This was annoying, since with the screwups, we would have liked to leave less.

Dress

The restaurant was a very casual family restaurant. Shorts and a t-shirt would be fine.

Items Ordered

Cheeseburger In Paradise

This is how it all began in Lahaina, October 1989. You're gonna love our Five Napkin Cheeseburger topped with a thick slice of our special house blend of Colby & Jack cheeses.
Cost:$8.95

Although they first undercooked our burger, and then gave us the wrong bun, this was still a pretty good burger. It was fairly thick, and had a nice satisfying taste. It was served on its own (with some lettuce and tomato), without any fries or onion rings.

Our Famous Seasoned Fries

A big basket and we're not kidding! Nearly a pound of steak cut fries, enough for the whole table!
Cost:$4.75

The basket of fries was quite large. It would probably be sufficient for two or three people to share one basket of fries. The fries were lightly battered, and were marginally better than an average fry.

Ono Onion Rings

"Ono" in Hawaiian means delicious! Our gourmet onion rings have a flaky crumb breading that you will love
Cost:$5.25

The onion rings were quite large, and also quite good. Similar to the basket of fries, you could probably split this basket of onion rings between two or three people.
