The Central Park Zoo is a small zoo in Central Park that caters to children. There were about 10 different exhibits including a polar bear, a snow leopard, penguins, and sea lions. Some of the animals have public feedings through the day which are fun to watch. We saw the sea lion feeding, during which the animals did all kinds of activities to get their food. The zoo is mostly outdoors with the exception of the tropical room and the penguin room.

Entrance to the zoo also includes entrance to the childrens petting zoo. At the petting zoo, there is animal food available for purchase (50 cents for a handful) to feed the animals. Most of the animals were various farm animals including goats, sheep, and pigs.

Visiting

The Central Park zoo is located in the south eastern part of central park. It is not very large, and 1-2 hours is enough to see everything. You may want to spend more time if you are going to see an animal feeding. You cannot re-enter, but there are bathrooms and some small food vendors inside the paid area. Tickets to the zoo are $12 for adults. You can purchase tickets online in advance to avoid the lines.
