Mexican Cantina is a chain of Mexican restaurants mainly located in the US. We visited their London location near seven dials in Covent Garden. They offered pretty decent Mexican/American food in a slightly more upscale environment than most US mexican-inspired grills.

Items Ordered
Carne Asada
Grilled steak served with mexican rice, guacamole, and sauteed vegetables. The carne asada was a deliciously flavored beef. It was tender and had a pretty good texture. The sauteed vegetables were mostly corn, and served on a plain-tasting rice. The guacamole was decent.
Enchilidas Veracruz
Soft corn tortillas with a filling of tender chicken breast, spinach and monterey jack cheese. Topped with tomatillo sauce, marinated Mexican vegetables and fresco cheese. Served with Mexican rice and sauteed vegetables. The enchiladas veracruz were chicken enchiladas filled with cheese, lettuce, cabbage, and topped with fried tortilla chips. The chicken was a bit dry, but adding more salsa worked well. The dish was a bit disappointing. It would have been better with some beans. The sauteed vegetables were the same that were served with the carne asada.
Mexican Brownie
Chocolate and pecan nut brownie served on a sizzling skillet with Mexican brandy butter and vanilla or cinnamon ice creamThe mexican brownie was a very cool dessert. It was prepared table side on a hot skillet, topped with ice cream, and then the brandy butter sauce was poured on top. The sauce sizzled and bubbled in the skillet. It hardened as it cooled and turned into a sticky caramel. The brownie was very thick and chocolately, with walnuts.
