The Cambridge Mill is a restaurant and small event space/conference center located in Cambridge, ON. The restaurant has a very scenic view with a lot of windows overlooking the Grand River. In general, the food was a bit disappointing. Everything was OK, but nothing was great. The venue is beautiful and in a scenic location, but the food could be improved on.

Dress

Smart casual was certainly appropriate for lunch, although you wouldn't have looked out of place in a suit, either.

Cost

Lunch entrees started around $15. Menus with updated pricing are available at the Cambridge Mill website.

Service

The staff was quite accommodating with any special requests we had.

Reservations

The restaurant was mostly empty when we visited, although I could see reservations being a good idea during busier periods.

Items Ordered

Daily Soup

Made with seasonal ingredients
Cost:$7

We ordered the daily soup to start. It was fairly salty and had a very creamy texture. The flavor of the vegetable was muted, but it was still a decent soup.

Marinated Beets and Feta

Sweet pawnee pecans and orange
Cost:$9

Although this looked like a beet salad, it was mostly lettuce and greens. There were only a few beet slices underneath. The slices of orange and the sweet dressing gave the salad a light and sweet spring flavor.

NY Striploin & Yukon Gold Fries

Caramelized shallot, bbq sauce, organic greens
Cost:$21

The NY Striploin was OK. It was covered with tons of butter which made it taste greasier than it probably should have. It was served with a small salad (that had a sweet dressing), a grilled tomato (also covered in butter), and a large portion of crispy fries.

Vegetarian Quinoa Burger

Avocado, romesco, arugula
Cost:$14

I was hoping the quinoa burger would have slices of avocado, but the only avocado on the sandwich was in the sauce. This was just an OK burger. It had an odd flavor and it fell apart very easily.
