I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time. It is in a very popular location and looks beautiful. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the quality of service and food. The room with it's large windows was also very noisy. It was not a very romantic setting. It was very noisy from the bar, even at the other end of the room.
The restaurant received such a low rating due to a combination of the poor service, the mediocre entrees, and the noise.
Dress
Nice casual. Jeans and a nice shirt are appropriate.
Cost
Entrees were around $25-$30
Service
Although we had reservations, we were told they have no open tables for us, and had to wait for 30 minutes. Even when we were finally seated, the table hadn't been fully cleaned. The check from the previous guest was still sitting on the table. Throughout the evening, they seemed to be slow and understaffed.
Reservations
Reservations are a good idea. We had reservations and still had to wait 30 minutes for a table.
Items Ordered
Bread
We received a basket with a variety of fresh rolls.
Stir Fried Ginger Shrimp & Portobello Mushroom
There were not very many shrimp served in this appetizer. They came in a nice sauce. It was an unusual combination with the mushroom.
Grilled Marinated Pork Chops
white sweet potato puree, stir fried long beans, plum and carrot compoteThe pork chops were cooked well. The sauce was mild and slightly sweet and added moisture to the meat. It all tasted fairly plain. The exception to this was the potato puree - it was creamy and quite tasty.
Baked Atlantic Salmon Filet
chunky tomatoes with saffron and ginger, spring vegetables, roasted potatoesThe salmon tasted fresh. I prefer to have my fish with a flavorful sauce on it, but this sauce was very mild tasting. The vegetables were also quite plain. The presentation of the dish was a bit messy.
Belgian Chocolate Cake
coconut sorbet, chocolate crunch barThe coconut sorbet was a delicious combination with the dense chocolate cake. The crunch bar was a chocolate bar with something crispy in it.
$9.50
blackout cake, vanilla milkshakeThe cake was light and moist. We had a difficult deciding which of the two desserts had a better chocolate cake. The vanilla shake was small, but otherwise typical.
