Bella Via

Bella Via is an Italian restaurant located in Long Island City. It's a nice modern restaurant serving pretty good quality Italian food for reasonable prices. Bella Via is one of the few nice modern restaurants in the area, although there is lots of ongoing development.

Cost

Most entrees were around $15. Pizzas were between $11-$14 for a small, and $15-$19 for a large.

Dress

Very casual.

The bread at our table was a pretty typical white bread. There wasn't anything noteworthy about it.

This was a pretty typical mixed greens salad. The selection of greens was quite nice - there weren't any of the bitter ones that are usually in mixed greens salads.

Everything about the fettuccine was pretty good. It had a nice creamy pesto sauce, and a good amount of shrimp and mushrooms. Although it was good, it wasn't excellent - it seemed to be missing a flavor (possibly proper parmesan cheese) - something that would have made it even better.

Like the fettuccine, the margherita pizza was also relatively good. The crust was thin and dry. They left our pizza in the oven a bit too long, since some of the crust was burnt.

The pizza wasn't covered in cheese like they usually are - there were only a few patches of cheese. The cheese was really good and not greasy at all. The pizza could have definitely used more basil. There were only a couple basil leaves on the whole pizza. That was disappointing.
