The Bank of England Museum is a small museum dedicated to the history of money and promoting the role of the central bank of England. In general, the exhibits at the museum are well designed and modern looking. The museum has a few rooms with exhibits focused on money in ancient times, the development of the modern banking system, the importance of banks in the modern economy, and the benefits of central banking. There was also a temporary exhibit when I visited talking about Charles de Gaulle and the role the central bank of England played during World War II.

The museum also has a real (?) gold bar in a case that visitors can try lifting. It's heavier than it looks!

Photography was not allowed in the museum.

Cost

Admission to the Bank of England Museum is free.

Estimated Visiting Time

I spent around 45 minutes wandering through the museum reading the exhibits. Visitors should allow 30-60 minutes to see the museum.
