BJ's Chicago Pizzeria

BJ's Chicago Pizzeria is a restaurant on Front Street in Lahaina, Maui. As their name implies, they serve Chicago style (deep dish) pizza. As usual with this style of pizza, there is a bit of a longer wait. They have a lot of toppings available for their pizzas, and the pizza is quite good.

Their casual atmosphere offers live music on some nights. One night, after listening to the musician playing for awhile, we noticed he was playing a Ukulele (and not a guitar!) We were all quite impressed.

The restaurant is located on the top floor of the building. After going through the door, you go up the stairs to the restaurant to be seated. The restaurant offers an outdoor patio area, but many of the indoor seats also offer an excellent view of the ocean. When we were here, we watched the sun set into the trees.

Dress is very casual.

Cost

Prices are quite reasonable at BJ's Pizzeria. Everywhere in Hawaii is a bit expensive, but prices at BJ's certainly aren't unreasonable.

Parking

Front Street in Lahaina is a popular tourist destination with lots of stores and galleries. There is some street parking available, but more likely you'll have to pay $5 for parking in one of the many nearby lots.

One of the dressing choices for this salad was a papaya dressing. We ordered it on the side. The salad was mostly just lettuce, but the dressing was quite good. It was a vinaigrette with a hint of papaya. The bun (that the salad was served with) was made of pizza crust. I would recommend this salad with the papaya dressing - it was tasty. For only $4.95, it was also good value.

Make your own pizza

Pizza with fresh basil, mushrooms, roasted peppers, and pepperoni

We chose to order our "Make your own pizza" with pepperoni, roasted peppers, mushrooms, and fresh basil. The pizza was quite good, and sure enough, it was nice and thick like a Chicago pizza should be. The 6-slice medium pizza was adequate for 2-3 people.

BJ's Favorite was one of the "topping combinations" available at BJ's Chicago Pizzeria. Although all the toppings look like a lot, you really don't end up getting any more toppings than you do with the "make your own" pizza. You get more variety, but not more "stuff". The pizza was a little bit spicy, tasted pretty good, and had a lot of meat.
