Aurora is an Italian restaurant in Soho, NYC. They offer slightly upscale Italian food at fairly reasonable prices. The interior of the restaurant is decorated a little bit like a barn with brick walls adorned with farm tools, but in a modern artistic way. There is a small outdoor patio that seats 8 people and faces onto Broome street.

Smart casual

Cost

Fairly average for the area, but in general soho is probably a little more expensive than other areas.

Reservations

We didn't need a reservation when we stopped by around 6:30pm on a Thursday, but the restaurant did fill up shortly after.

Items Ordered

le Rapette

Satur Farms beets, orange, strained horseradish yogurt, pistachio
Cost:$9

The beet and citrus salad was the best item we ordered, although when we ordered it the orange was replaced with grapefruit. The horseradish yogurt was only mildly flavored of horseradish, but still a bit too much for my liking. The beet and grapefruit went really well together and gave the salad a great sweet and acidic citrus taste.

i Paccheri alla Norma

Setaro pasta, roasted eggplant, tomato, buffalo mozzarella & pesto
Cost:$16

The pasta had big thick noodles that were a little bland by themselves, but the toppings gave this dish a reasonable amount of flavor. I thought it could have used a bit more eggplant and tomatoes, but it wasn't bad as is. The mozzarella cheese was a little bit gummy, but otherwise the pasta was pretty good.

il Brasato d'Agnello

Slow braised lamb shank with cranberry bean ragu & baby carrots
Cost:$24

The braised lamb shank had very tender meat that fell right off the bone. It was topped with a slightly sweet tomato sauce, but in general the lamb shank was very bland. The only flavor this dish had was salt - otherwise it had surprisingly little flavor.

il Tiramisu

Traditional Mascarpone & espresso layer cake
Cost:$7

The tiramisu was very good. The cream was nice and thick and had a great flavor. The pieces of cake were also quite dense, but went very well with the cream.
