Inside the Aswan airport

We visited the Aswan Airport during an organized tour of Egypt we took with Trafalgar Tours. It was a fairly modern airport - I was impressed.

In some other Egyptian airports, they made a "show" of security by having metal detectors, but the security guards just ignored the beeps. Here, if the metal detector beeped, they used a smaller metal detector to try and find the source of metal on your body (just like "normal" north american airport security).

Like other airports in Egypt, the airplanes do not come right up to the terminal. When your flight is ready, you take a bus from the gate to the airplane, then climb the stairs to get on the airplane.

The interior of the airport looked nice and modern. There were a few stores inside where you could purchase jewelry and souvenirs. There were also some restaurants, including a Sbarro.
